Pauschinger Nurnberg" TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE --> Offered here is a German Imperial era - WWI M1855 WKC (Weyersberg) sword and scabbard. The Weyersberg family were making blades back to the 1500's. The Knight stamp was used after 1882 and through the WWI era. This pattern sword was used for many years. It is marked with the Bavarian motto meaning "In Faithfulness / Steadfast in Loyalty". The spine is marked J.M. Pauschinger who was a retailer who operated approximately from 1880-1900. Overall, this sword is in Good - Very Good condition, considering its age and history. The integral pommel, back-strap, quillon and knuckle-bow P-guard are all securely fastened to the hilt by a ferrule. They have light scattered impact marks and scrapes. The two quillon slots are intact. The sharkskin grips have light scuffs, but no rips or tears. Some of the granular texture and coloring have worn thin. The single strand and double twisted strand chord is securely wrapped around the grip. All the brass coloring has started to turn a darker patina color. The blade's spine, sides and fullers have a few light scrapes. There are a couple very light nicks and dings on the blade edge and it appears to have its original factory cutting edge. The tip is intact and comes to a semi-sharp straight point. Most of the original finish is still intact with some scattered light discoloration. Both the left side blade and right side blade are marked with an etched floral pattern and "In Treue Fest". The spine is marked with the retailers store name "J.M. Pauschinger - Nurnberg". The scabbard is in Good - Very Good condition, considering its age and history. The suspension mount and ring are securely attached to the body. The ring rotates and swivels correctly. The throat, body and drag have light impact marks, scattered oxidation and scrapes. Most of the original finish has worn off and the remaining exposed metal has turned a darker patina color. It looks like there may be some white paint on it too. There are no visible markings on the scabbard. This sword and scabbard will be a great addition to your German WWI collection, or a sword collection in general. As with all used items, a light cleaning may be necessary to meet your standards.
