Description: THE CANONS OF COLORADO From Photographs By W. H. JACKSON Denver. Frank S. Thayer. Not dated but circa 1890s. Black cloth covering thin boards, pictorial blindstamping of the Royal Gorge. A title page plus 16 photographs, images about 7 x 4.5 inches, accordion folded. Excellent Jackson photographs showing the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Clear Creek, Glenwood (called Canon of the Grand River) and others. Very Good. The gilt is still quite bright. The covers have a few minor soil spots. Light wear to the edges. Some discoloration and fingerprints on the title page and a few scattered soil spots in some photo margins. The images are, for the most part, very clean and clear. The snap closure is a little scuffed but works well. Hardback octavo. Featuring the work of William Henry Jackson (1843-1942), one of the most celebrated early photographers of the Rocky Mountain region. Nicely printed views of canyons. Original black embossed portfolio, with snap closure. Scarce. Beautiful photography.
