Description: 1989 Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. West Virginia Mountaineers RARE Ticket Stub (Fiesta Bowl National Championship) Up for 'BUY IT NOW' is a rare original ticket stub from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. West Virginia Mountaineers NCAA college football game which took place at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe AZ back on January 2, 1989. This was the 18th edition of the Sunkist Fiesta Bowl that would decide the 1988 national championship for college football. Both teams entered this contest with undefeated records of 11-0. Notre Dame was ranked 1st in the nation while West Virginia was ranked 3rd. Unfortunately for West Virginia, starting QB Major Harris suffered a shoulder injury early in the 1st quarter that would hamper his play the rest of the game. Despite throwing a 17-yard touchdown pass to Grantis Bell in the 3rd quarter, it wasn't enough for West Virginia. Tony Rice threw 2 touchdown passes and Notre Dame captured their 11th national championship defeating West Virginia by a score of 34-21. Not accepting offers on this item.
