Description: STK: SHELF #6CBrought to you by CAMARILLO TRADERS specialists in new, used & antique arms, collectible militaria and rustic ephemera War of 1812 - 1830's US Army Infantry Officer Eagle Head Open Beak P-Guard Sword & Leather / Metal Scabbard Manufacturer: Unbranded Model: US Officer 1812-1830's Blade Length: 29.50" Serial/Rack #: N/A TEXT GOES HERETEXT GOES HERE --> Offered here is an Infantry Officer's sword and scabbard from the 1812-1830's era. This has an eagle head on the pommel with an open beak. It also has the Federal Eagle on the langet and engravings on the first 1/3 of the blade. This type of cut and thrust sword was popular with officers of the Artillery, Infantry, Navy and militia units. Overall, this sword is in Good - Very Good condition, considering its age and history. The pommel, quillon and the P-guard are securely fastened to the hilt. They have scattered light impact marks and scrapes, almost not worth mentioning. The finish has started to turn a darker patina color. The white serrated grip has light handling marks and scuffs, but no notable wear. It has some light discoloration. The blade's spine, fullers and sides have light oxidation and scrapes. There are no nicks or dings on the blade's cutting edge and it appears to have its original factory edge. The tip is intact and comes to a sharp straight point. Part of the finish has been blued and has an ornate etched design and the rest of the finish is in the white. There are no visible markings in regards to a serial number or manufacturer, but it a detailed eagle head design, decorative ferrule and blade & the Federal eagle on the langet. The scabbard is in Poor - Fair condition, considering its age and history. This is borderline Fair - Good but the leather is fragile and very delicate in two areas. The suspension ring mounts and rings are securely fastened to the body. The rings rotate and swivel correctly. They have oxidized. The frog stud is securely attached to the locket. Both the locket and the chape have light scrapes and discoloration. They are securely fastened to the leather body. The leather has no rips or tears, but it has dried out and there are a lot of scattered cracks. The leather is soft and brittle in two spots, it is starting to fold and could tear. We suggest keeping the scabbard on a flat surface when not in use so it doesn't bend and rip. The stitching is sewn tightly along the seam and most of the coloring is still intact. There are no visible markings on the scabbard. This sword and scabbard will be a great addition to your early American militaria collection, or a sword collection in general.
