Description: Vintage Bitossi Aldo Londi Design Liberty Blue Paisley Base Vessel Vase 6” tall Italy Here is a beautiful little Italian pottery vessel from Bitossi. This is an Aldo Londi design in the Liberty decor which features an inscribed paisley motif. The brilliant and iconic blue glaze is stunning. The piece has the incised stamp “Made in Italy” on the base as well as hand painted black notation 69/10B. The vessel stands at about 6” tall. Research indicates that it probably originally had a brass lighter insert which is not included. As it is now, it a lovely little example of the Bitossi Liberty pottery. It can serve as a vase but you will probably want to use a liner as the interior is unglazed. The paisley pattern and the rows and swirls of dots are deeply incised. The pattern along with the glaze in a range of blues creates an interesting combination of rough and smooth textures. This piece is in very nice vintage condition. As expected for this type of pottery, there are a few little maker glitches such as glaze variations or surface roughness due to the decoration process. There is fine age related glaze crazing as expected. There is one very small glaze chip on the base as well as a few tiny flea bites to the glaze around the top rim. Please see the detail photos.
