Once plugged in, the appliance takes a minute to get hot. Put plastic lid on steamer for quicker steaming, and to steam hotdog bun if placed on top of lid. Instruction manual and original box NOT included. Instructions for operating appliance can be found elsewhere online. Bottom of steamer states, "Caution. Do not immerse in water. Do not operate dry. Use with water only." Basin of steamer does show wear on nonstick coating due to age and use, likely corroding and chipping off.
