Description: Description An enchanting strapless number in cascading layers of lilac floral lace and pale blue tulle. What a statement this would make at the next prom season – any girl wearing this creation would definitely be the belle of the ball ! It is also lovely enough to be worn as a wedding dress – definitely worthy of a very special occasion. No maker’s label remains and it is possible it was a custom made by a seamstress. No fabric contents label but this is likely a synthetic blend. Note the details on this stunning gown – the (boned) form fitting taffeta bodice wrapped in layers of lace and ruched tulle, pleated tulle accenting the bustline, rear sash treatment and of course the full twirling skirt with cascading tiers of tulle and lace. There are three layers to this skirt – a lining of pale mauve acetate, a single layer of pale blue tulle, topped with an outer layer of tiered tulle trimmed in lilac lace. Note there is also a matching open face lilac lace shrug. This dress closes down the side with a metal zipper and fastener. The entire dress is lined in pale mauve satin acetate. The dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included. No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is a rare and very wearable medium size that would best fit a modern size 6 or 8. Measurements Bust – 33-34” Waist – 28-28.5 (possibly 29") Hips – full Length – 38” Torso length – 10” (strapless – waist to bustline) Skirt length - 28" (waist to hem) Condition This dress is in very good vintage condition. No stains and underarms are clean. No obvious breaks in the lace or tears in the outer tulle. The exterior is in great shape. Other than the tulle and lace fabrics having significantly softened over the decades, there are no significant exterior defects to note. The bodice was at some point very crudely taken in and has since been restored to its original size. There are numerous signs of alteration and a few small repairs to the bodice lining which are not visible from the exterior.
