Unique Numbered Vintage St Michael Chaplet

Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Interesting, numbered St. Michaels chaplet with metal rose beads. Not sure why the maker decided to add numbered beads - maybe for a child? I was also leaning towards this being made for an amputee. However, the beads do show wear, indicating this was used in a traditional way; but could have been made for an amputee and later used by a non-amputee? Maybe someone had trouble keeping track of the salutations, but this would be unusual since counting salutations is more feel than visual. This leads me back to being made for a child - providing a visual and sensation track of the salutations. I lean to this being given to a child who continued to use this into late adulthood........BUT, this is just my speculation. I wish I could provide a more concise background, but it might be fun to research. Out of my interest, I spent a spent quite a long time trying to find rosaries and chaplets with numbered beads and found nothing similar. This is definitely unique, but I like to think there are others out there like this. It was well made with metal rose beads, metal chain and nice metal St. Michaels pendent. Unsure of the metal being used but likely a stainless-steel chain. The numbered beads are a hard plastic-type material. Not typical cheap-feeling plastic, almost stone-like. The overall appearance is respectable, but it has the wear to indicate it was used religiously (forgive the pun). If you look closely at the beads have different color tones - variations of browns and metallic silver colors. So, it has that appealing used patina. Perfect for someone who likes vintage used chaplets/rosaries that show devotional use. Not sure of the age but it has the wear to indicate it was used for many years. No markings so also unsure when, who and where made. Could be handmade. Chaplet hangs approx. 9-1/2"
