Description: Ottoman Turkish Tughra Sultan Signature Symbol Continental Silver 800 Stick pin A tughra is a stylized royal seal and signature applied by the Ottoman sultans to every royal edict. Different types were used by the early rulers. Very elaborate decorated versions were created for important documents that were also works of art in the tradition of Ottoman illumination. The tughra was designed at the beginning of the sultan's reign and drawn by the court calligrapher or nişancı on written documents. Measures about 7/8" Tughra Face by 2 1/2" high. Very good condition with no stopper. Some patina.
