INTRODUCTION "Trig.mcd" is a Mathcad document that contains a complete theory of trigonometry as well as a set of exercises for the student. The Mathcad document "answers.mcd" contains the answers to the problems. The best way to use the document "trig.mcd" is to open one window containing this document and a second window to serve as a "working" window. Copy whatever equations you want to solve from this document into "solve blocks" in the working window via the clipboard. Do all your actual calculations in the working window. It is recommended that Mathcad always be run in "manual mode". The Mathcad document examples.mcd contains sample solve blocks that are similar to ones actually used to solve the example problems. The Mathcad document "dms.mcd" contains formulas for converting between decimal degrees and degrees, minutes, and seconds. If you are doing this conversion, you can open the document dms.mcd into a second working window and do the calculations therein. Actually, it is probably easier to do this conversion with a pocket calculator! The author has had bad results with MathCad's solve blocks when applied to complex equations in complex variables. If the complex equation has a complicated left hand side, then the solve block must be used. In this case, it usually suffices to break the complex equation into its real and imaginary parts. This is illustrated in the file examples.mcd. Also, it should be noted that all the equations in this document are toggled "off". You can tell this by the little square to the right of each equation. The reason for this is that any calculations are supposed to be done in a separate "working document", as described above. Be sure to toggle them back "on" after they are copied to the "working document". When you open trig.mcd, you will notice that all the figures are blank. If you are just copying equations and calculating answeres as described above, then you need not concern yourself about the figures. However, if you are actually learning trigonometry and/or working the exercises, then you will need the figures. The figures are contained in the above mentioned bitmaps. To include them in the trig.mcd document, select "Math" ----> "Calculate Worksheet".
