The famous Iron Brigade, the “Black Hat Brigade,” was the only all-western brigade in the Eastern army and played a pivotal part in the Battle of Gettysburg. The Iron Brigade fought valiantly at Gettysburg absorbing numerous Confederate attacks yet holding its ground. It’s valiant stand in the face of superior Confederate numbers allowed the Union Army to regroup on Cemetery Hill and eventually defeat Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia for the very first time in a major battle. It’s hard fighting at McPherson’s Ridge on July 1st, 1863, and other locations, firmly planted its place in history as the hardest fighting unit in the Army of the Potomac. Their Hardee Hats distinguished them from most of the other Union soldiers, but the Confederates respected the “black hats” who stood like iron in the face of their foe. This booklet is a brand new, unread, pristine condition, paperback booklet. It has no shortcomings. It is clean and tight. It contains the official report of the brigade at Gettysburg and contains a chart with the losses sustained by the unit during the battle. Contains iv. and 15 pages. A wonderful, new booklet, in mint condition. Track Page Views WithAuctiva's Counter
