Description: A true first edition of the classic Box-Car Children. In acceptable condition, well loved by the previous owner. Binding is bumped, front cover is heavily rubbed, gilt has worn away from stamped titles. Scarce in any state. Binding is cracked at title page, most pages remain intact through the first color plate is missing (image of Jess with a bag of laundry). The other three plates are present though the second plate is loose from the binding as shown. Heavily dog-eared pages throughout, it seems someone was reading this book slowly, one page at a time. Dog ears have been unfolded by previous owner. Some staining to pages throughout, staining is typical of pages shown in listing photos. Charming gift inscription at front free endpaper and owners name in pencil. Pages are otherwise free of writing or coloring. All text remains legible.
