Description: The Official Inaugural medal struck in bronze for the Inauguration of President Herbert Hoover by the United States Mint in Philadelphia on March 4th, 1929. Medal is quite large measuring 2 3/4" in size and heavy weighing just under 6 ounces in very nice condition with superb original surfaces (all as seen) and actually far nicer than what I see offered and actually sold at $3,000. The 1929 Official Inaugural medal is very rare and seldom offered for sale. The reported mintage from the US Mint was a mere 1000 medals struck and even that total may be high as the number of examples to ever appear are very few. This medal has sold at major auctions upwards of $2,500-3,500 or more. Its one of the KEYS in the Official Inaugural medal series and missing even from some advanced Inaugural medal collections.
