Description: We are offering for your consideration an exquisite, silver plated, Samovar or Hot Water Urn manufactured in England in the early 1900’s. A piece that will keep liquids placed within hotter than more contemporary pieces. A very special antique piece that measures 14.75 inches high, 8.50 inches wide from handle to handle and 4 inches square between the balled feet. The long protruding spout allows for ample room to pour its contents into a cup and saucer placed below. The urn shaped samovar / hot water urn has many fantastic features. The high domed cover is topped with a large and striking Acorn finial. Large scrolled handles provide for ease in lifting and carrying and add a handsome visual appeal. The elongated and highly detailed, column shaped feet culminate in large pawed feet and are set upon a plated base which is supported by four, large, cannon ball feet that can be adjusted to level the piece. A magnificent crest displaying a Winged Lion and a Passant Lion has been etched on the front. The Latin motto, “ALOS ET AUDAX,” translated meaning, “WINGED & BOLD” is inscribed below the Lions. The pour handle turns on and off easily with no dripping. The piece bears a Pseudo hallmark, many of which were used in the Victorian era by manufacturers to resemble British Sterling Silver marks. The original burner is included. The piece holds 8 eight ounce cups enough for an intimate dining experience. The Samovar / Hot Water Urn is in EXCELLENT ESTATE READY TO USE CONDITION with no silver wear to note, no dents, copper showing through or repairs. The inside is clean with no rust or pitting.
