The Williams family moved in on Christmas Day, 1860. Part of the family was Laura Jean, governess to the Williams family. Laura Jean stayed on after the Williams children grew up, eventually dying at the Red Castle. While other spirits continue to lurk about it is Laura Jean who appears most often. At one time, a psychic made contact with Laura Jean; "She does not know she has died. She is looking for the children. In her hour of confusion all the people who sleep here are the children. Every night she comes to tuck them in. When no one is here, she thinks she is sleep walking like she used to do as a small child."
