Description: This is a fabulous and super rare set of two Lomonosov tea pots, designed in 1968 by a prominent porcelain painter Serafima Bogdanova at the Lomonosov porcelain factory. Very Flower Power style, so popular in the 60-70s. Handpainted porcelain, with 52% matte gold and sgrafitto- like design on leaves. Such powdered gold was only rarely used, and only to decorate high end pieces. It also allows for designs to be scratched into this matte gold using a pen with a a stone- agate- tip, which appears to be a technique similar to sgrafitto, but unique to Lomonosov porcelain Please see the leaf detail in photos. Comes from my own personal collection of Lomonosov porcelain. The large pot holds approximately 2.5 litres or 84 oz, and the small one is an individual one cup capacity. This is a rare collector set. However, it can surely be used for making and serving tea as well. Appears unused. Excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing. I do not see any noticeable wear to the enamels. There is however a tiny raised dot on the lid of the small pot. Could be a tiny piece of porcelain that somehow got stuck there at time of glazing, please see the last photo. White background appears to render the colors on teapots truer to life, while the black makes them pop more. Please examine all photos. All questions are welcome prior to bidding. This holiday season, treat yourself or your loved one to this very exeptional piece of porcelain! Happy holidays to you and your loved ones!
