Description: BOTANICAL TULIPS BY ROYAL CROWN DERBYCEREAL BOWLNEW WITH ORIGINAL TAGS Royal Crown Derby manufactures its bone china tableware at its factory in Derby. The new Tulips collection is inspired by one of the company's archive botanical watercolours painted by William Quaker Pegg in 1813. It's been updated and depicts large loose tulips in red and yellow. Fine brilliant white bone china is decorated with hand-painted exuberant tulips..if a tulip can be exuberant...in red and yellow. The flowers are bold and detailed and the tableware looks contemporary while clearly referencing the 19th century, which saw the many artists paint plants and flowers in colour and in detail in an effort to increase awareness of natural history. These tulips were spotted by Royal Crown Derby designer Lisa Law in the company's archive in a watercolour painted by William Quaker Pegg in 1813. Law wanted to rework the flower for a new collection... and the result is the Tulips collection, which is very evocative of spring, sunny days and a flower-filled garden.
