He was widely recognized by his flamboyant style and his pet lion Gilmore. He also founded the U.S domestic airline Lake Central Airlines, the predecessor to US Airways. Listed for auction is commemorative aviation cover signed by Roscoe Turner. The cover commemorates the Transcontinental Sweepstakes Air Derby Bartlesville, Oklahoma and is signed ''Col, Roscoe Turner'' in green fountain pen. The cover is postmarked Bartlesville, Okla Aug 25, 1932, and is affixed with one U.S. airmail stamp. The cover measures 6.50 x 3.75 inches, in fine condition with trivial toning/edge wear.
