Description: These genuine African "Volcanite trade beads" were used as currency through the early to mid 1990's before the Belgian take over of the Congo. 3 strands of very thin Volcanite beads. All sizes are approximate: The largest is 72 cm long with 15 mm with green and reddish brown beads. The 2nd is 68 cm long with 14 and 12 mm beads. The 3rd is 65 mm long with 10 to 13 mm beads. Today these beads are more popular and more collectable than ever before. Thousands are in private collections around the world.
