Description: Here is a very nice old commemorative medal made of brass, in quite splendid condition overall, and it measures app. 1 & 7/16" across, with a plain edge. This rare political-related piece shows just light wear, with only some tiny imperfections nothing serious, and a loop has been skillfully removed from the top ages ago. I have not done anything to clean or alter its appearance, and three of the photos have been "enhanced" for clarity. Whether it has been cleaned previously, I don't know, but I don't believe so, and it has acquired a lovely toning over the years. The medal is related to pieces identified in Hibler and Kappen's "So-Called Dollar" reference as HK 386 and HK 387, both of those a hair larger, with different portraits and a legendary reverse. The obverse pictures the leaders of both nations in oval frames, their names "Wm. H. Taft Of U.S." and "Porfirio Diaz - Mexico" beneath their portraits. "Meeting Of The Presidents - 1909" is at the top, with "October 16.th - El Paso, Tex. - Juarez, Mex." at the bottom. The reverse features a five-pointed Texas star central, inside of a bowed and berried leafy wreath, a tiny "Schwaab, Milwaukee." at the bottom. Fine medal! $180..
