Description: Free eBay listing template designed by dewiso.com Rare 1890 Through The Looking Glass And What Alice Found There Lewis Carroll This rare antique hardcover copy of "Through The Looking Glass And What Alice Found There" by Lewis Carroll was published in 1890 by "United States Book Company, successors To John W Lovell Company" (Its undated, but the United States Book Company was formed in 1890 and they only used this imprint for the first year) It measures 7 1/2" x 5" and contains 224 pages with "Fifty Illustrations By John Tenniel" This exceptional and hard to find copy of Lewis Carrol's sequel to Alice in Wonderland is bound in handsomely embossed cyan blue boards featuring elaborate floral and geometric designs with gilt on the front cover and spine. The profusely illustrated contents are bright with minor toning and a few smudges, free from rips, tears, damage or writing, other than a former owners name inscribed on the front end paper from 1893. The covers are bright with no major damage, although there is some shelf wear to the corners and the top and bottom of the spine. There is a few blemishes and minor wear on the rear cover, but nothing substantial. The binding is intact and solid, and although there is a split to the front endpaper gutter, it does not affect the binding. An overall beautiful copy of an extremely hard to find 19th century edition of Lewis Carroll's classic. Please look at photos carefully for best judge of condition.
