Provenance:This railroad relic listing originates from the estate of Karl Lemp, Jr. whose paternal grandfather, John Lemp, operated a brewery and taverns in Boise, Idaho during the 1860s where he also served as Mayor for a year as well as a bank president. Karl's maternal grandfather was John D. Harrington, a Freight Manager with Funch, Edye & Company of New York, a Steamship Agency and Freight Brokerage. The firm managed intermodal coal and freight exports from rail to merchant marine ocean liner steamships bound for Europe. It had been in operation for 120-years by the time it ceased operations in 1967. Funch, Edye & Co. was appointed by steamer owners to handle operational and procedural requirements their commercial vesselβs cargo handling (loading/discharging). It managed freight exports aboard the White Cross Line from Germany, the Norse American Steamship from Norway, and the Rotterdam Steamship from Holland. John Daniel Harrington b.1902βd.1986 was married to Ellen (Johnson) Harrington b.1908 β d.1996. Their children were Jacqueline A. Harrington (married to Karl Herbert Lemp, Sr.) and Ellen M. (married to Sgt. Francis J. Lebeau). Jacqueline (b.1933-d.1998) and Karl Lemp (b.1929βd.2018) had sons, Karl Herbert Lemp, Jr. and John Louis Lemp. --------- Items are described to the best of our ability. Examine photo(s).
