II Occupied JAPAN Uncirculated "ONE YEN" Note ALLIED MILITARY CURRENCY Description After Japan had been defeated and World War II ended, the country was occupied by the Allied Armed Forces. This is a crisp uncirculated "One Yen" note of "Allied Military Currency" from "occupied" post war Japan. These notes were used in Japan from 1946 until as late as 1958. There were two basic types of this note. The first had a large A under the serial numbers and were only issued from July 19, until October 1, 1946. They are much scarcer. This is the more common type with a large B. The serial numbers begin and end with A, these were issued between 1946 and 1955. The Toy-Schwan book says there were 53,984,000 notes of this type delivered. "Standard Catalog of World Paper Money" (General Issues 1368-1960) by Albert Pick. #67a.
