Description: Pleiones are easy to grow found growing in the Himalayan Mountains. Pleione maculata is one of the less cold hardy species and probably should not be exposed to very cold temperatures. These like all pleiones grow during spring and summer, losing their leaves in the fall. They are dormant during late fall and winter at which time little or no water is needed. They require this cool temperature rest in order to bloom. If grown indoors you can place the dormant pseudobulbs in the refrigerator. When grown outdoors they should have about 50% shade during the growing season. Pleione maculata blooms in fall to winter.
