Description: Past Patterns PP#9751Late 1910s Delineator Dress Sewing Pattern This Late 1910s Delineator Dress sewing pattern was originally discussed in the April 1918 Delineator Magazine ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On page 69 of the April 1918 issue of The Delineator the description for the 9751 design reads, "In a taupe-colored novelty silk frock the draped waist fronts are suggestive of a trim little jacket or waistcoat effect that is especially attractive for a dress that is to be worn on the street without a coat, under a scarf or fur neck-piece during the Spring. A long shawl collar of light silk prettily outlines the becoming open neck and always makes a dark dress more wearable. The drapery in the front of the waist is soft and graceful and the sash that extends from the front and ties loosely breaks the long lines of the one-piece back. The plain close sleeve is used a great deal for the walking costume and it is made with one seam and a dart plait which is outlined by a series of self-colored buttons. A body lining is there if you wish to use it." ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This Dress pattern was designed to fit the size and shape of an late 1910s woman with 38” bust, 28” waist and 41 ½” hips. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 9751 Thanks for looking!
