Pair, HERTWIG Germany, antique all bisque Campbell type dolls, wire jointed arms

Description: Here are a pair of darling, 3 1/2" and 3 3/4" tall, cute chubby, antique, all-bisque child dolls with "buster brown" style, blond molded hair covering their ears, intaglio side-glancing painted blue eyes, closed mouths and rosy cheeks, c.1912, possibly by Hertwig, Germany. They each wear very detailed, molded blue and white boy's romper suits with molded blue belts and blue trim at neckline, long sleeves, molded white socks and brown one-strap shoes, (brown boots on the larger doll). The larger doll has wire joints at shoulders, stiff legs molded apart to stand. And the smaller doll has molded arms. Excellent condition on both with no cracks or hairlines, no chips or repairs. (#4183, flat glass case) See them on page 178, "All-Bisque & Half-Bisque Dolls"-Angione and on page 43, "Album of All-Bisque Dolls"-Pat Smith. Made for the Horsman Doll Co., between 1912-1917. We have been advised that this special model may have been a special production run for the CD Kenny Co. which sold coffee & teas etc. around the mid-Atlantic states.
