Description: Original antique lithograph titled Map of the Gettysburg Battlefield, printed more than 115 years ago. There are actually four maps on a single sheet. The largest is drawn on a scale of one-half inch to one mile and locates prominent features between Oak Hill and Round Top, including the Peach Orchard, Seminary Ridge, Taneytown Road, Little Round Top, the Hanover Railroad, Baltimore Turnpike, Devils Den, and Cemetery Ridge. Three smaller maps show Federal and Confederate troop positions on the first three days of July, 1861. Below the maps is a block of letterpress text with a general summary of the battle. Condition: This original lithograph is in very good condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, tears, or creases. It is printed on a lightweight paper that has toned slightly with age, giving it a fine antique patina. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. It was published in Battles and Commanders of the Civil War, edited by General Marcus Joseph Wright, Washington, D.C., 1902. This is an original, authentic antique lithograph, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. On the reverse side there are two other illustrations: [1] A Confederate Battery at Messich's Point, on the Potomac and [2] Wagons at the Gate of Fort Runyon prior to crossing the Long Bridge into Washington.
