He contributed to several important publications in the 19th century and is often associated with works that emphasize detailed, precise, and aesthetically pleasing engravings. The Iconographic Encyclopaedia of Science, Literature, and Art by Johann Georg Heck is a comprehensive reference work originally published in Germany in 1851 as Bilder-Atlas zum Conversations-Lexikon. It was translated into English in 1857 and became a popular visual resource in the 19th century due to its detailed illustrations and broad content. This is an ORIGINAL engraving from the 1857 book NOT an inferior copy. The crisp detail of the copper plate engraving on high quality paper cannot be reproduced through modern means.
