Simply put, this is an exceedingly rare true vintage unisex tank top/singlet, in a-m-a-z-i-n-g high-grade condition!! This vintage road race singlet was made by Champion (see vintage blue bar label), and is a "Medium". Highly dramatic yet somber white on black singlet pays tribute to the late University of Oregon Ducks distance runner Steve Prefontaine, with "A Salute To Pre" on the singlet's back. The singlet is dated 1975 on the front. <>History: Steve Prefontaine was tragically killed in an auto accident in 1975. In this 1975 Charleston 15-miler (Charleston, West Virginia), the road run dedicated their race to Pre's memory and printed "A Salute to Pre" on the back of the runner's singlets. >Prefontaine had been one of the race marshals in the '73 inaugural race parade, which was the main reason for this 1975 tribute to "Pre". The offered 1975 Charleston singlet was the only year sleeveless shirts were issued. The singlet measures approximately 22" (top of neckline to bottom hem) x 16 1/2" (armpit-to-armpit). <>Condition: in very *Fine Shape* overall, and looks to be very gently worn (if at all!). There are no stains, rips/tears or holes! There's NO fading! The screened-on graphics and text are solid with no cracking!
