NOS Vintage 1940s 50s Arrow Long Sleeve Striped Woven Deadstock MCM Ivy Shirt XL

Description: This is an excellent deadstock Arrow brand woven shirt from the 1940s or 1950s, in an amazing subtle stripe pattern, in approximately a size XL. This shirt is from before the days of mandatory material composition, so even though it likely has a high cotton content, we can't be certain whether or not the shirt is entirely cotton. The fabric is also somewhat of an open weave, although not a mesh by any means, but bears a certain resemblance to the 'Zephyr' style shirts made by Arrow in the 1940s, which were supposed to be open and airy, for keeping the wearer cool. The buttons and tags in the attached advertisements look identical to the depictions printed here. The stripe pattern also matches here, with vertical stripes through the body, but horizontal striping through the shoulders. The fabric, being what is is, looks all the more interesting with a stripe, given the physical depth of the weave, which increases the boldness of the striped look from afar. The sizing is stamped on the collar as a 17-35, which should equate exactly to a modern size XL. The sizing on formal shirts is usually true to size, even given how old this particular shirt is.
