Nippon Bowl 2 Reticulated Handles Rising Sun Mark Gold Pink Roses 1911-1918 HTF

Description: Nippon Bowl 2 Reticulated Handles Rising Sun Mark Gold Pink Roses 1911-1918 HTF Nippon Bowl 2 Reticulated Handles Rising Sun Mark Gold 1911-1918 Pink Roses A beautiful NIPPON 2 Handled Bowl Cream & White with Magenta & Pink ROSES highlighted by a Light BLUE Band 1911-1918 Rising Sun Mark    Morimura Bros. formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake.  Noritake Company has a rich history of producing fine bone china all the way from  January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan.  The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911.  In Collecting Noritake A to Z Art Deco & More, David Spain shows that Noritake substituted Japan for Nippon in their backstamps starting in 1918.  The Rising Sun Mark is attributed to Noritake and its forerunner in the 1890’s to 1921 time period.  In ABC’s of Collecting Nippon Porcelain, Van Patten attributes the Rising Sun’s mark to since 1911.  This seems to narrow the window of use for the Rising Sun mark to 1911-1918. The condition of this round 2 handled bowl is excellent.  We can find no defects or damage.  There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings or hairlines.  The gold appears to be perfect--highlighting the smooth rim and the reticulated handles on the bowl.  Surprisingly, the rest of the beautiful goldwork appears to have no damage. Please inspect the photos carefully and you will see just how good the gold is overall.  As collectors ourselves, we tend to be very picky.  The artwork on this is beautiful with the magenta and pink roses on the wide cream band.  The artist was quite talented as the bowl looks very beautiful and appears to be in unused condition.  (The use of the pointer in one photo was to help the camera focus on the bottom of the bowl--please excuse.) The bowl stands 1 1/2" high and is  8 1/2" handle to handle.  The bowl's diameter is 7 3/8".  It sits firmly on a base of 4 7/8". Please view all pictures carefully as they are part of the description. The stand was used as a photo prop and is not part of this listing.
