SkyNMS uses SNMP and FTP for the communication with the SkyWAN IDU's. A full VSAT solution contains beside the SkyWAN IDU as well outdoor equipment (ODU) like antenna, transceiver, amplifier, control units, redundancy control units, converters etc. as engineered for the customer. Cards UIM BoardThe user interface board (UIM) is focused on the user interfaces. Four serial line interfaces served by an integrated frame relay (FR) switch, an Ethernet interface served by an integrated IP router and a Service interface for local user access are placed on this board. The type of each serial line interface is specified by the cable attached to the respective UIM connector. SIC/DEMOD BoardAs part of the Satellite Interface the SIC/DEMOD board accommodates a frequency down-converter, a demodulator, a burst detector, a decoder, and a descrambler. MOD BoardAs part of the Satellite Interface Modem the modulator (MOD) board covers scrambler, encoder, burst assembler, modulator, frequency up-converter, and reference frequency source.
