Description: MILN, LOUISE JORDON. Mr. Wu. Based on the Play “Mr. Wu” by H.M. Vernon and Harold Owen. Toronto: The Ryerson Press, 1920. First Canadian Edition. A novelization of the play which was the basis for the 1927 silent film directed by William Nigh and starring Lon Chaney, and Marie Dressler. A tale of betrayal and revenge, with high costs to all involved. Very good lightly used copy with a touch of spotting to the cloth at the top right corner of the front board in a dust soiled and chipped dust jacket with some faint dampstains. The cover of the dust jacket is a color painting of a mysterious Mr. Wu in rich Chinese robes, who is scheming and pensive, while a distraught woman leans against the wall in the background, crying in despair.
