MINT! Serviced & Restored KLH Model Twenty Seven AM FM Receiver VTG 27 60s HiFi

Description: KLH Model Twenty-Seven solid state AM/FM receiver, circa mid 1960s. This is Henry Kloss' first standalone receiver, it's rated somewhat conservatively at 30 WPC. While I wouldn't call the 27 rare, working unrestored examples are pretty much nonexistent. This one has been fully electrically serviced and restored to excellent working order, with all functions and buttons operating. Cosmetically it's in near mint condition. Note that this unit retains the original AM antenna and mount on the back plate. They are typically broken off and missing. As found, this unit had various sonic and operational issues related to aging or deteriorated components, but was overall in decent operating order considering the age. Restoration and service were performed using information from original service documents and schematics, combined with years of experience working on KLH audio gear from this era. A fully functioning M27 was used for side by side testing and comparison as well. The electrical restoration includes: -All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced on all circuit boards (full recap)-Replaced failed temp comp diode on output circuit-Replaced entire IF board to fix tuning issues on FM-Broken wires and attachment pins on circuit boards have been fixed or replaced-Circuit boards inspected for cracks or broken traces-Controls and switches were cleaned with De-Oxit and Faderlube for scratch free operation-Test and cleaning all inputs -Test headphone jack-Align FM dial Cosmetically the faceplate is very nice, no missing decals and just a few small scratches, as well as some damage under the knobs that's very hard to see. These units are notorious for having the silver trim fall out of the knobs, and replacements are not available. This 27 has all the knob trim present and basically looks mint. There is a small ding on one corner of the faceplate, please see photo. The walnut wood sides have been sanded to remove the old varnish, refinished with tung oil finish, and sealed with Howard Feed N Wax. The black paint on the metal top is nice, but there are little dots of paint toward the back, as well as on the back AM antenna attachment. Please see photos.
