Saturnino Orestes "Minnie" Armas Arrieta Miñoso was a Cuban baseball player nicknamed "The Cuban Comet" for his speed and baserunning. He was the first Black Latin American major league star and broke the White Sox' color barrier in 1951. Miñoso started his career in the Negro leagues in 1946 as an All-Star third baseman for the New York Cubans. In 1951–1953, he led the American League in stolen bases.
