Description: In Soviet Russia, like in most of the pre-internet world, children's entertainment mainly came in three formats; state-sponsored live performances, the screen (TV, cinema), or the phonograph. To keep things lively, a wide selection of vinyl records were produced in the Soviet Union, such as this set of five (5) tiny (10cm/4") souvenir 33 ⅓ RPM records with a song on one side! Published by the WTO theater factory in the late 1970s (these were all the rage as mailable gifts for the New Year, Woman's Day, etc and sold for just 15 kopeks.). The records are in good vintage shape, and come with the original sleeves. The titles are: 1. "Кони-звери" Нани Брегвадзе – (Horses-beasts by Nani Bregvadze). Nani Bregvadze was a Georgian and Soviet singer, pianist, music pedagogue, people's artist of the USSR, born, raised and started her career in Soviet Georgia in the USSR, then gained USSR-wide popularity during 1957 6th World Festival of Youth and Students. 2. "Школьный вальс" Мария Пахоменко – ("School Waltz" by Maria Pakhomenko) In the 1960-1980s, Maria Pakhomenko was one of the major stars of the Soviet stage. The songs in her performance sounded in the programs of many radio stations and on television. She toured the USSR and abroad for many years. 3. "А он мне нравится" Анна Герман – (And I Like Him by Anna German) Anna was a Polish singer, immensely popular in Poland and in the Soviet Union in the 1960s–1970s. She released over a dozen music albums with songs in Polish, as well as several albums with Russian repertoire. Throughout her music career, she recorded songs in seven languages.4. "Вернулось танго" Вадим Мулерман – (Tango is back by Vadim Mulerman) Vadim was a Soviet, Ukrainian and American singer (bass-baritone) and was awarded the titles of Honored Artist of the RSFSR and Merited Artist of Ukraine. In the early 1970s the USSR State Committee for Radio and Television (Gosteleradio) barred Mulerman (along with several other singers of Jewish descent) from appearing on television. 5. "Аленушка" Евгений Мартынов – (Alyonushka by Yevgeniy Martynov) Yevgeniy was a Soviet pop singer and composer, the older brother of the composer Yuri Martynov, and displayed a musical talent since an early age. His father taught him to play the accordion. Material: Vinyl, 4", 33 ⅓ RPM, Single Sided, Mono Condition: Vinyls are in Good/Very Good condition with a few signs of use, no major defects.
