Description: This is a proof impression of a wood engraving that was made for the Century Co. in 1892. It is from a portfolio of 64 proof impressions that I inherited in 1989. Mary L. Macomber was born in Fall River, Massachusetts in 1861. Her painting are in several museums. The painting that this engraving was taken from was exhibited in the Palace of Fine Arts at the World's Columbian Exhibition. A copy of this engraving was in the Century Magazine, December 1892. Paper overall is 13" x 17". Actually proof is 5 3/4" wide by 5" tall.
