Description: LEROY SKILLET - Deep Note Presents: Back Door Daddy - CD - *NEW/STILL SEALED*. Condition is Brand New. Shipped with USPS Media Mail. Ernest "Skillet" Mayland and Leroy Daniels made numerous ribald "party records" for the Los Angeles based Laff Records including this 1972 release Back Door Daddy. They enjoyed a long career which included the occasional movie and television role together (Sanford and Son) and separately (for example Skillet on the Amos N' Andy TV series, and Leroy in the 1979 film classic Avenging Disco Godfather). After beginning a professional dancing career at age 15, LaWanda Page later relocated to St. Louis, and began stripping, incorporating elements of circus sideshow fire-swallowing into her act, earning the title "The Bronze Goddess of Fire." She settled in Los Angeles in 1955 and began performing standup, later joining the comedy team of Skillet, Leroy & Co. In 1972 the year of the original release of this album, she made her debut at Aunt Ester on Red Foxx's hit NBC comedy series Sanford and Son. While she sent on to do other TV roles, as well as stand-up and numerous comedy records, Page is best known for her role on Red Foxx's long running '70's TV hit. Skillet and Leroy also appeared on five episodes of Sanford and Son as their onstage comedy characters, but might be best known to hipster audiences for their hilarious roles as the bad guy nightclub owners in Rudy Ray Moore's 1978 classic blaxploitation film Petey Wheatstraw.
