Description: A very rare, and perhaps unique copy of the famous McMurtry work which was made into a film starring Jack Nicholson and Shirley McLain. This copy is a near fine first edition, first printing with full publisher's number line. Additionally, it is BOUND UPSIDE DOWN and is SIGNED by the author on what should be the first free end paper, but is actually at the back of the text block due to the binding error. Condition of the book is Very Good with original dust jacket. Some light rubbing and bumping is shown with an area of loss to the paper boards shown (see photo). Overall page toning is evident - seems as though the paper was acidic. DJ is near fine with a new Brodart protective cover installed. Textblock is tight, possible unread. I believe this copy was always collected for its binding error, and a signature sought to enhance the value. A very collectable copy of a great book!
