Description: Pictured is a wide blue decorated salt glazed stoneware preserve or storage jar. The jar is freehand decorated with an unusual design of four (4) fern fronds on stems. The jar was produced in southeastern Ohio in the Tuscawaras County or Muskingum County area. It measures 10 1/4" in height, 8" in base diameter, & dates from 1860 - 1885. It's in very good condition with a thin 1 3/4" chip to the interior rim. There is a associated fine hairline which runs from the rim to the pinched neck. Note: Picture #5 best represents the coloration of the jar.
