Sax made a big splash in the market in the late 1980's by producing saxophones with some really wild and unique finishes. They became a favorite of contemporary jazz players for their stage presence. This one has a gorgeous electric blue body with gold lacquered keys. It truly is a striking horn! I believe this one was made in the early 1990's, although there isn't a whole lot of info about these on the internet, so if I'm mistaken, please let me know. The serial number is 70,xxx. I believe this is a pro model as it is keyed to high G. It's only one extra note, but it is a nice one to have as this note is notoriously difficult to produce with altissimo fingerings. This horn is in excellent physical, cosmetic, and playing condition. The body is straight, and there is not a dent or ding to be found. Not even a tiny ping or nick in fact! There are only a few tiny chips to the blue finish, but they are barely noticeable. There is light spotting wear to the lacquer finish on the keys and the interior of the bell. Overall, it looks very good! The pads are in excellent condition and sealing properly with a light touch. This horn plays easily throughout its full range. This horn comes with its original L.A. Sax branded mouthpiece. The interesting this about the mouthpiece is that it is also inscribed "by Morgan". That would refer to the late great mouthpiece maker Ralph Morgan. This piece appears to be hand faced. I'm guessing that for the pro model horns they sent their stock pieces to Morgan for facing. That makes this a nice 'extra', as Morgan pieces are very highly regarded, and you don't see many for soprano. This horn comes in its original case, also in very good condition. There are some minor scuffs to the exterior covering, but overall it looks quite good. The interior is clean and odor free. Please feel free to message me with any questions!
