Description: On offer, we have a typed letter signed by President Herbert Hoover. On White House stationery, this is dated December 10, 1930. It is a very politely worded, very angry letter to Mr. James T. Williams who was connected with the Washington Herald and Hearst press. He objects to "an elaborate editorial" "attacking me" with "absolute untruth" mis-stating his views on immigration laws. The letter is hand signed in black ink. With this is a somewhat rare 4 1/2" X 2 3/4" photograph of Herbert Hoover. Also included is the engraved White House mailing envelope dated 10-PM Dec 10 1930. The letter and photograph are matted in a custom made frame with the envelope on the back. This measures 14 7/8" X 17 1/4" X 3/4" and weighs 2 pounds 12.5 ounces. Yes, this is authentic. My rare book dealer has authenticated President Hoover's signature comparing it with others in his inventory. He also assures me the autograph is "live Ink", not printed. I believe this is in excellent condition. Both letter and photo are clear, clean and bold. Using different lighting, my photos show that the letter has been handled and has some light wrinkles. The envelope is very wrinkled. The frame has some light scratches. As I am not an expert, please see my photographs for more description. This belongs to my friend who is moving to a much smaller home and parting with many of his treasures. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping when possible.
