As I clearly remember the specific-day I first purchased this Amazing GDCD release : October 11, 1995 - now how's that for a memory Folks ?! Just kidding ... as the old '95 sales receipt just still happened to be sitting in the bottom of my CD rack !!! No but seriously, when I saw that - it made me think back ... as I do distinctly remember that this CD Set served a very important purpose when we bought it. It was the first-thing we purchased - that helped us get through the way-early-days of missing Jerry Garcia & the end of the Grateful Dead touring right after his untimely passing on 8/9/95. This along with the Early-'96 Shady Grove ( Garcia / Grisman ) release were the two things musically ( as far as new CD's go ) - that helped us take those early steps of healing as our household became a quite sad place for a while. I mean how couldn't it ? No more Tour ? No more Jerry ?? It was a hard concept to even fathom. But this Europe '72 release was pretty much a religious experience for us. Despite the fact that six or seven wooden Napa Valley 100-racks of Dead Tapes graced my living room - I still seemed to accumulate less than a dozen 90-minute analog tapes from Europe '72. I really don't know why ? - as it just seemed to happen this way ? But ... once I started listening to this " Hundred Year Hall 4/26/72 release " ?? I mean Goodnight Irene ! ... I was after it & on the hunt for other stops on this Tour !! But I still never did get that far - maybe another batch or two from trades out of the back of Dupree's or Relix - or with some old Taping Buddies - or maybe from a few tape-connected fellow Deadheads around town - but still nothing ... NOTHING ! like what happened for us with the release of the Whole-Tour. Thanks to Bobby - Billy - Phil - Mickey & whatever other powers that be that I ( and many of you ) now have the Whole " Europe '72 " Tour !!! I mean are you kidding me ?!? ... we have All ! of the Grateful Dead Europe '72 Tour !! - and in a fancy-box even ... delivered right to our front door ? This is still ! a very-good time to be alive my fellow Dead Fans !! So which ever lucky person captures this 2-CD Set - let me tell you this : Disc 1 will Rock 'n Roll !!! you for certain - with the likes of Bertha - China > Rider - Jack Straw - Big RxR Blues - Playin' - Lovelight. But then look-out ! ... because Disc 2 is likely to change your life for good ! Assuming you haven't already heard it. I'll even let you in on the details - because regardless ... words don't do a thing : Truckin' > Cryptical > Comes a Time > Sugar Magnolia !!!!!
