Description: Please visit our eBay store for a complete list of in-stock Civil War relics organized by recovery location. We are working as partners in conjunction with Gettysburg Relics to offer some very nice American Civil War relics for sale. The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling on eBay. The Rosensteel collection of artifacts are not recent recoveries, and pre-date the 1960s. The park still owns the majority of relics once owned by the Rosensteel Family. THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA ~ Recovered over 60 years ago along Granite Schoolhouse Lane ~ (The area of Powers Hill) ~ This road was used by many troops on their way to and from the battle over the course of the three days at Gettysburg ~ FROM THE ROSENSTEEL FAMILY COLLECTION OF GETTYSBURG ~ A very nice example of a dropped side-cast .54 caliber 3-ring rifle bullet with a very nice patina. We have very few pieces from this location. This bullet was found over 60 years ago in the area of Powers Hill along Granite Schoolhouse Lane at Gettysburg, which runs between Taneytown Road and Baltimore Pike just east of the High Water Mark on Cemetery Ridge. This road was used by many troops on their way to and from the battle over the course of the three days at Gettysburg. This artifact was a part of the collection of Iva Rosensteel-Rider (born in 1887 and died in 1964), sister of George Rosensteel (founder of the Gettysburg National Museum and the famous Electric Map) so the provenance could not be better. This is the first time that this artifact is being offered for public sale and I feel very privileged in the opportunity to offer it. The Rosensteel Collection is arguably the most famous collection of Gettysburg relics that has ever existed. John Rosensteel opened his Round Top Museum of Gettysburg artifacts in 1888. The collection, which grew in size as a variety of local collections were acquired, became the nucleus of the Electric Map Museum collection and ultimately the Gettysburg National Park Visitor Center collection. A provenance letter will be provided with this relic. We include as much documentation with the relics as we possess. This includes copies of tags if there are original identification tags or maps, as well as a signed letter of provenance with the specific recovery information. All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic, and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Some land on Battlefields that is now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, was acquired after the relics were recovered. We will not buy or sell any items that were recovered illegally, nor will we sell any items that we suspect were recovered illegally. Thank you for viewing!
