Theses ones from the 88-96 are not even comparable to the ones that followed. This 100% all original beauty is one of the very best we have ever had, and we have had quite a few over the years. We have found the anniversary ones to have some of the best work done on them in relation to finishing, just a little more got put into theses ones it would seem. The 9.5 radius Maple neck is extremely clean from top to bottom. Frets I've just been cleaned dressed and polished and show very little wear are at all some very light string marks on the 1st 3 but that's it, super smooth and it feels like new. The vintage profile frets make the guitar effortless to play, it has some very light checking and wear around the underside of the 2-8 fret area but nothing can be felt at all. Head stock is exceptionally clean with only a few very small necks as they do, the nut is great but but does have a small chip at the top E string area, completely unaffected the playability of functionality of the guitar so we have left it all original. Rear of the neck is great no major dings necks or issues to be found, the V profile on these Clapton ones are just so comfortable to play. great to see this completely free of all neck join finish cracks. super tight neck pocket on this puppy too. Alder body is a perfect weight 8.2 lb, it's free of all dings and chips, there is a 5mm top layer mark on the top curve but that's about it, aside from some top layer scratches from playing it's exceptionally clean over. Plastics have aged beautifully to nice parchment white, and the controls so a cream, the gold lace sensor pick ups are the 666 serial/model (coveted by some) and sound truly amazing- they even have the logo is still intact. The hardware has some dulling and slight scratches but nothing you would not expect to see from a guitar this old. Its a 9/10 for condition and has been cared for all its days for sure. The case is not the original tweed one they came with but this one is from the 90's and in our opinion actually looks better with the red axe, but its all preference. Its completely functional with no issues or repairs- nice and clean. Comes with the tremolo arm. The axe has been completely stripped down and serviced and rebuilt, plays like butter and has a flat/fixed tremolo as they should do. At one time its been changed to a floating trem set up, so it is missing the block they came with a standard. Set up with 9-42's and is effortless to play, super low, lose and fast as you are able to play!
