Description: Exotic! Antique Lachrymatory sample perfume bottle. ‘Tear-catcher’. 1850s-1910s. This is a lovely 19th Century lay-down bottle, w/a romantic myth as a catcher of tears used by Victorian women in mourning. Created in Turkey, Bavaria & England, they carried perfumes, scented waters, smelling salts & such, & were usually thrown away when empty. This bottle is the classic tube-like glass, w/thumb-printish dips down front/back, containing shiny gold designs. Original gilt stopper w/bit of rubs off gold on it & mouth. No chips/cracks.
