Description: This is an auction for a scarce copy of a classic American novel, Across the River and Into the Trees written by Ernest Hemingway and published by Scribner’s Sons of New York in 1950. A Hemingway novel set in World War II Venice and the basis of the currently released film of the same name, directed by Paula Ortiz and starring Liev Schreiber, Matilda De Angelis and Josh Hutcherson. A very good hardback copy in a good dust with original price of $3.00 on front flap. This is the first edition, first printing copy of this novel in the first issue dustjacket with the following first printing points: the Scribner “A” and colophon on the copyright page and the lack of a Book of the Month Club blind stamp at the bottom edge of the rear board; dustjacket with price of $3.00 on front flap; novel title in black with yellow background on dustjacket spine. The dustjacket has the shelf wear to edges, some light soiling and creasing. There is a chip out of the upper edge of front panel and paper loss to top and bottom edge of dustjacket spine. Dustjacket now protected in archival mylar cover. The book itself has fade to author name and book title on spine. This book is tightly bound, has no names, or writing or bookplates and measures 5.75 by 8.5 inches, 308pages. In case I am asked this book is not a book club or an ex‑library copy.
