Description: .58 Federal rounds and one .57 Confederate Enfield found on the Drewry’s Bluff Battlefield below Richmond, Virginia on the James River. The old original tag on the can of bullets reads “Drewry’s Bluff, 18th Corp, Burnham’s Brigade”. On May 5, 1864, Union Major General Benjamin F. Butler and his Army of the James landed at Bermuda Hundred, a neck of land only 15 miles south of Richmond. Marching overland, they advanced within three miles of Drewry's Bluff by May 9. While several Union regiments did manage to capture the fort's outer defenses, delays by Union generals spoiled the success. Confederate infantry under General P.G.T. Beauregard seized the initiative and successfully counterattacked on May 16. Once again a Union drive on Richmond met defeat at Drewry's Bluff. The area remained an integral part of Richmond's defense until the fall of Petersburg in April 1865. They come as shown in a 4” x 5” riker style case. All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original as stated. A hand signed and dated “Certificate of Authenticity” will be issued by Collectors Frame with a photograph and description of the items purchased. The documents pictured will also come with the set.
