Description: These are Retro/Vintage, whatever you want to call them, Dolby CAT. No. 22 Processing Cards. While these were designed as Noise Reduction modules, the fun part is using them as Audio Processors, they can add, “Brilliance,” “Clarity,” “Definition and Authority without pushing up the level,” these are quotes from various recording engineers. They use this Dolby effect on Vocals, Guitars, Drums, Bass, Congas, some say, Snare Yes, others say, Snare No, these folks never agree on anything. But, what you get is a Vintage Audio Effect from the analog world to apply to your digital productions; it’s something the guy down the block can’t buy, new, off the shelf. Listen to the vocals on Journey’s, “Don’t Stop Believing,” to hear what the effect can sound like. The way it works is that the Dolby CAT No. 22 card processes audio in four frequency bandwidths. We disable the lower two bands, by lifting one end of two resistors. It’s easy, I will send the instructions, and I am going to send a copy of the 361’s manual, it is really a fine book, lots of theory on how Dolby works. All you need is a power supply and input/output connectors to make this thing work. Do this mod and you’ll have a secret weapon for your sound business. BTW, you don’t need the theory to use it; just send your track out an echo send and mix in return, as desired. Please keep in mind that this is used equipment, I’ve tested it for encode/decode, but that’s it.
