Description: In a Preface to this edition, the author explains that his interest in the Mormons came from his having lived a hobo life and then being taken in and kindly treated by the Mormon Church. However, the book is not full of praise of the church, and in fact one Mormon was quietly reproachful of him for "passages that seem to me negative." It may have been a passage like this, telling of when the Mormon founder, Joseph Smith, returned to his newly-formed flock after two month's absence and found "considerable confusion. Some of the new converts had been seeing visions. It was for him to let them all know that he alone was prophet. Smith alone talked with God."
